I sang this in concert back in July with many hardworking, skilled, and dedicated music teachers. It’s an experience I won’t forget.

During rehearsal and performance I was not able to sing through the whole piece without falling apart a little bit.

Each verse is its own wave of sound, rise then fall. Each verse grows bigger than the previous verse until the crescendo builds to the last page, followed by calmness.

So what’s the big deal? It was written and dedicated to the victims of the 2004 tsunami and then resurfaced again after Katrina.

Now that you know, listen to it again. This is why we make music: to be human. I hope you find moments like these and share them with everybody.
